YEAR 9 RE HOMEWORK

Year 9,

We have now finished looking at miracles in our lessons.

Below is the question to be completed for your homework, make sure you explain your ideas and include examples.

'Miracles do not really happen - it is simply an idea we use to explain unique things that happen'. Do you agree? Give reasons for your answer.

Make sure you include your name, I look forward to reading your ideas!

    i do and don't agree, i do agree with this because being cured from a deadly disease can be supported by scientific evidence. But if someone was to be brought back to life i would probably have no other option but to put it down as a miracle. So i think it depends on what type of miracle and what has happened as some can be supported by other evidence that tells us there is a rational explanation to it.

    i do not agree with this because a miracle could be anything good that happens to you or someone else, also religions beleive that they happen and are not just a ida we use to explain unique things that happen.

    I think that it depends on what type of miracle you are talking about, for example if you are talking about the ressurection miracle then i think that they do not exist, but for miralces such as miracles over nature i think that they are true because our world is always changing and the healing miracle as it can be scientifically proven that the person has had a quick recovery

    I dont think real miralces happen because for example if you think of the ressurection miracle it is not 100% proven that jesus even lived or ressurected.

    Personly, I'm not sure if I agree. I do beleive they happen for a reason, but the reason that God simply wants us to beleive is just to easy to understand. If God wanted us to see him and praise him, why doesn't he just come down to us and teach us? Why the occasional unexplained event? It just doesn't make sense. I beleive they happen purley because the people affected deserved what happened to them.

    I believe that this statement is both true and falso ,depending on the type of miracle your talking about.If your talking about raising the dead miracles then i disagree with this statement as this is a very unlikely event and wouldn't happen off its own accord.However if your talking about miricles over nature then I believe that this can be proved to not be a miricle by scientific evidence.Healing miricle i also agree with this statement because it could be scientifically proven to be a speedy recovery.But christians always put unbelievable things that have happened into the category of miricles because they haven't looked for evidence to prove it is or isn't a miricle.

    I disagree with this statement. I think that miracles do happen and are not just a way of explaining a unique event. A unique event would have some sort of explanation, whereas a miracle has no explanation what so ever. I think miracles do happen, they just always keep us guessing

    I THINK MIRACLES ARE NOT TRUE BECAUSE I HAVE NOT SEEN A MIRACLE HAPPEN BECAUSE IF MIRACLES WERE TRUE HOW COME SO MANY PEOPLE ARE DYING IN THE WAR...

    i do and dont believe they are true as i belive if somone is ill and gets better i belive thats a mircle, But then i dont believe because somone cant die and come alive and also i havent seen one happen from natalie bonnick

    i do not personaly agree with miracles because people say that the impossable happens but realy its just what they believe in and what they think as part oftheir religion, and if they were real then why have so many people died in the war and of illnesses that scientist cant seem to find a cure for....

    I Think that if there were such things as Miricles then why are there so many bad things in the world and why dont we see miricles also why do miricles happen once in a while not all the time if they were real they would happen

    i peersonaly do belive in miricals.I think they happen for a reason and and only god can make them happen a mirrical is somming that can not be explaned thats why some people dont belive in them. i belive in miricals because i belive god exsists and only he can make them happen.

    i disagree because i think that miracles do happen
    eg;the birth of a baby, this is concidered a miracle because there is new life born into the world.
    i think that people only call them coincidences because they cant explain them

    I do and dont agree with this. I do agree because some things that happen in the world we cant explain, for example things to do with nature(Weather).I dont agree because if miracles did happen why is there so many terrible things happening in the world for example: War, Murders ect. It also depends on what type of miracle because i am not sure i believe you can raise people from the dead no matter what sort of power someone has.

    im not very religous so i would probably say that it is just a way rationalising a unusual or fantastic event. i beleive this because, for example with healing miracles it is possible for some one to make a quick recovery it is improbable but not impossible.

    i dont agree because i do believe miracles happen like bringing someone back from the dead or making a blind man see. i think that if someone has done somthing bad something bad happens to them and i think this is called karma so i beleive in miracles and karma

    i think that i dont agree , because i belive that many miracles happen in life whether you choose it or not , it just matters if you have a sin free life and have made a good life towards you and your people, if someone does something bad then they could still get miracles by getting a free sin life by forgiveness or god , so they can still get miracles in life.
